Walking in the Kingdom

If there were ever a time when the Body of Christ needs to be living, moving, walking and having their being solidly in the Kingdom of God, it is now.

About thirty years ago a worship leader wrote a song “Walking in the Kingdom”. It was a catchy and powerful song. It lifted you up into the heavenlies, and you felt like you were marching with the Army of God above the fray as a power force. While searching for a recording of the song a few years ago, the author was located. However, as far as he knew the song had not been recorded nor did he remember it. It, no doubt, was a song of the Lord before its time, or the Body was not ready to grasp the fullness of walking in the Kingdom. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” was still just a routine prayer in the minds of the Body of Christ. It had no relevance to our daily lives.

Today when we observe our world in the natural, it seems the kingdom of darkness is the overwhelming victor. BUT GOD! We all know that light dispels darkness—but do we really KNOW it, LIVE IN IT, WALK IN IT?  We were delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. In other words, at the moment of our manifested redemption we were lifted out of one kingdom and set down securely and permanently in the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is the kingdom of Light, where no darkness dwells or comprehends.

Walking in the Kingdom is walking in the Light—all the time. In the light we can see. When we see, we know who and what we are hearing. If we see and hear, we gain understanding. If we see, hear and understand, we KNOW.

I John 1:7 tells us, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another; and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”  This is the Apostle John that penned the Gospel of John, the three Epistles and The Revelation. Holy Spirit had imparted to him great depths of understanding of the importance of the Light and walking in it. We could probably say he was an expert on the subject.

That expertise in and by the Holy Spirit ultimately opened a dimension of communion with the Godhead that few today experience or recognize as even possible, even though this level of communion can be seen throughout  the scriptures. Revelation 4:1-2, After these things I looked and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”  Immediately I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

From that glorious position John saw heaven as it really is. He heard as it is in heaven. Peruse the first few chapters of Revelation and note of the multiple references to “I saw”, I looked”, I heard, I beheld”. He was actually in heaven, literally walking in the God’s Kingdom seeing, hearing, beholding, communing and receiving instruction from the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

That’s the God we serve. That’s the God that is calling us, His Body, to “come up hither”, I will show you things which must take place on the earth hear and now. However, instead of proclamations going forth  of what is happening in heaven, there are many voices out there declaring judgment on the people and nations.

God says He is at work to will and to do His good pleasure. His very nature is love that brings forth redemption and restoration of all things. Things are not as they seem. What we see happening in the natural is not what is happening in heaven, but how will we know what is going on in heaven unless we learn to walk in the Kingdom, in the fullness of His Light. We are the only part of creation that is made in His perfect image that has the capacity to walk in the Kingdom of God and/or the Kingdom of Heaven while clay feet walk on the earth. We, the Body of Christ, are the only legal connection with the authority to establish the perfect replica on earth as things are in heaven. We are like a spiritual lightning rod.

The daily news tells us the nations are raging. God said it first. He also said people are plotting vain things. Rulers and kings are taking counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed. However, all the while the Lord sits in the heavens laughing and holds them in derision. He is saying to us, “It’s your call.”

Today we answer Your call, Father. We are putting on our kingdom shoes, the ones that never wear out, and, As One, we are walking in the Kingdom of God, with locked arms stretched across the nations, decreeing into our homes, families, businesses, schools  and especially our governments right now, only what we see and hear You saying and doing in heaven. (While He was on earth, Jesus only said what He heard the Father say. He only did what He saw the Father do. Hmm!  He must have been walking in the Kingdom all the time, even when He had clay feet on the earth.)

By the way, while you are “up” there, look down and get a good visual of what is really going on in the earth. The Kingdom Walkers are sweeping across the nations leaving footprints of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom rule and reign.
